Ján Hollý (1785–1849) was a prominent Slovak poet and translator, often regarded as one of the leading figures in Slovak Romanticism. He is known for his significant contributions to Slovak literature, especially for his translations of classical works into Slovak, as well as for his own original poetry. Hollý's work played an essential role in the development of Slovak national identity during the 19th century.
