Coin issued for the 50th anniversary of the extermination of Lidice and Ležáky, two tragic events from the Second World War that became symbols of Nazi brutality and collective punishment of the population of Czechoslovakia. Both were reprisals by the Nazis, who decided to destroy entire villages in response to the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, one of the main Nazi leaders in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
